A limited palette can create different necessary colors to complete any painting. For the past 10 years, in all my reproductions, commissions, gallery works, and art pieces, I have only used six primary colors, namely Cadmium Yellow, French Ultramarine, Burnt Umber, Titanium White, Vermillion Hue, and Ivory Black. This approach has helped me save a considerable amount of money, enabling me to purchase high-quality paint and canvas and make a remarkable difference in my artwork. I mix high-end paint very sparingly with pure, refined linseed oil to achieve the desired texture for each project. I use Gamsol as a cleaner and thinning agent for Burnt Umber for underpaintings. I constantly mix the quantity required for each sitting and remove leftover paint from the palette. These practices help me avoid paint wastage and work with fresh paint every time. I also use a color checker to test colors and rarely need to oil out the painting.
